10.03.2010- Say it with cake.

The lovely people over at LOLA's have created another beautiful range of cupcakes, this time for Mother's Day, which falls here in the U.K this coming Sunday. As always, each LOLA's cupcake is baked and lovingly decorated fresh every morning, and to celebrate the occasion, LOLA's have developed a delectable 'MUM Cupcake Box', which you can personalise with the perfect combination of flavours (including strawberry, vanilla, carrot and red velvet) and the name of the recipient of your gift box. Each cake is individually ornamented with edible roses, sprinkles and glitter and the pale pink, green, lilac and orange coloured icing evokes early spring (even if the weather at the moment is failing to do so!)

Each cupcake box is tied for delivery or collection, along with your personal message, and if a box of four cupcakes is far too tempting, then individual cupcake boxes are also available. LOLA's are also able to concoct cupcakes with edible images, a perfectly delicious way to remind your mum of a special moment you've shared. Nothing says love like a cupcake:

08.03.2010- Oscars Red Carpet.

My pick of the best from last night's Academy Awards:

 

Sandra Bullock, winner of the Best Actress award for The Blind Side looking beautiful in Marchesa. 

Zoe Saldana in a stunning gown by Givenchy Haute Couture. 

 

Carey Mulligan, best actress nominee for her role An Education in Prada; adore the Mia Farrow-esque haircut.

Anna Kendrick wearing Elie Saab Haute Couture. 

Diane Kruger in Chanel Haute Couture. From what I've seen on a lot of blogs/fashion items this morning, many people aren't feeling Diane's dress, but I really like it on her and think that it's a refreshing and chic change from a lot of the oversize ball gowns we often see at events such as the Oscars.

 

Kate Winslet in Yves saint Laurent.

  

Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab Haute Couture; I adore the pattern and colours on this dress, and the fitted bodice keeps it from feeling too casual. Kudos to Rachel for, like Diane, trying something different on the red carpet.

05.03.2010- Ciao, Milano.

I have to say that for me, Milan Fashion Week was a little disappointing; compared to the vibrancy and creativity of London, Milan felt quite bland and 'safe' in comparison. Here are my picks from the few shows that I did like:

Pucci

Dramatic dresses and a striking colour palette. 

Alberta Ferretti

 

Lovely continuation of the nude trend, minimalist and chic.

Dolce and Gabbana

 

Again, very much a continuation of the spring/summer trend 'underwear as outerwear' with the use of sheer fabrics and lace adornments.

Did you find Milan as uninspiring as I did? Hopefully Paris will make up for such a mediocre series of shows.

Also, I just realised that this is my 100th post! Landmark! Let's have some cake to celebrate.
