19.04.2011- Savage Beauty

If I lived in New York (a girl can dream, eh?) or was visiting over the next few months, I'd definitely make my way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the much anticipated retrospective of Alexander McQueen's work, entitled Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty runs from May 4th until the end of July. Curated by The Costume Institute, the exhibition features a range of McQueen's work, paying tribute to his unique vision and the unparalleled contribution which he made to the fashion industry. In celebration of the launch, the latest issue of US Vogue showcases some of McQueen's most iconic designs in spread aptly named Alexander the Great. Styled by Grace Coddington and photographed by Steven Meisel, the feature sees some of McQueen's most beautiful and extravagant creations modelled by the likes of Karen Elson and Coco Rocha:

The stunning lace gown and antlers as modelled by Karen Elson in the first photo from McQueen's Fall 2006 presentation remains one of my favourite pieces ever; I adored it when I first saw it and still love it as much (if not more) today. I suppose it's this aspect of McQueen's vision, that his work feels as if it has been drawn from a long-forgotten history whilst still being groundbreaking, which makes him a perfect subject for an exhibition like this. Fingers crossed it comes to London!

15.11.2010- A Stylish Man

Here's the perfect thing to cheer up a miserable Monday evening- an exclusive first look at Tom Ford's long awaited Spring 2011 ready to wear collection, as featured in the December issue of US Vogue.

Shot by Steven Meisel and featuring a stellar cast of models including Karen Elson, Joan Smalls and Stella Tennant, this first peek at the collection showcases a strong seventies influence, and features some of the exquisite tailoring which Ford's name has become synonymous with. I can't wait to see more.

23.09.2010- Stardust

I was just browsing fashiongonerogue and came across this gorgeous retrospective spread from the September 2008 issue of Vogue Italia. Shot by Steven Meisel and featuring Viktoriya Sasonkina, the styling and composition of the shoot draws on inspiration from the golden age of Hollywood, as Sasonkina evokes the classic glamour of icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Rita Hayworth, Jean Harlow, Vivien Leigh and Grace Kelly:

The old school glamour and ladylike shapes are perfect inspiration for this season, don't you agree? Which old Hollywood stars are your style and beauty icons?

25.08.2010- In Celebration of September...

It seems that summer has well and truly been and gone in the U.K, and for the last week or so I've been wrapped up in woolly cardigans and scarves, armed with a brolly every time I've gone out. However, the beginning of September is just around the corner, and brings with it the official (well, official to my mind) start of autumn, when it is perfectly acceptable to buy jumpers, coats and hats a plenty (I really can't bring myself to buy knitwear in August!) Although I'm still clinging on to hopes of an Indian Summer, it's looking more and more unlikely by the day, so what better way to get inspired for Autumn than by looking back on this now iconic shoot from the September 2007 issue of US Vogue. I fell in love with this spread, shot by Steven Meisel, when I first saw it, and after watching The September Issue and seeing what a labour of love it was for Grace Coddington, I loved it even more:

Do you love this shoot as much as I do? And what are you most looking forward to over the next few months?

28.07.2010- Here we go round the Mulberry bush....

Here are the images from Mulberry's Fall 2010 advertising campaign, featuring Abbey Lee Kershaw (who is everywhere at the moment) and Hanne Gaby Odiele, shot by Steven Meisel:

This campaign is full of fun, and the vibrant purples of the collection really stand out against the antique backdrops used. It also reflects the quintessentially English nature of the Mulberry brand, thanks mainly to the mouthwatering cakes featured in the second shot, which wouldn't look at all out of place at a sitting of afternoon tea. Talking of the Mulberry, I couldn't resist posting this photo of Liv Tyler from the Comic Con festival which took place in San Diego last weekend:

She's wearing one of my favourite dresses from the Autumn/Winter collection, and I think she looks great!

What do you think of the Mulberry ad campaign?

25.06.2010- Vuitton Girls

Karen Elson, Christy Turlington and Natalia Vodianova star in the Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 advertising campaign, shot by Steven Meisel and styled by Karl Templer.

The 1950's inspired pieces really come to life through the composition of these images, and the sophisticated styling of each of the models really captures the spirit of the collection. What do you think?

30.04.2010- Circus Beauty

This fantastic editorial featuring the stunning Karen Elson shot by Steven Meisel was posted over at fashiongonerogue this morning. I have to confess I've not seen it before, but just fell in love with the whole shoot so thought I'd post it here to share.

I really love narrative editorials, and this just looks like it was so much fun to shoot. Karen  looks so so beautiful here, I just adore the way her hair has been styled, very old Hollywood.

Not too sure how frequently I'll be posting over the next few weeks as my university workload is mad until the middle of June, with performances and an exam, but I'll try my best to update as often as I can.

love xxx
