11.05.2010- Urban Love

For a long time, Urban Outfitters has been one of my favourite places to shop. I love the eclectic mix of clothing brands that they retail (which are usually not available anywhere else in the UK) and adore their home accessories. This Spring/Summer, they have got some fantastic pieces in, all of which I'm lusting over:

Pins & Needles Peter Pan Frock, £58. I love Peter Pan collars, and this pale nude colour is perfectly on trend.

Rodeo Fringe Colour Boot in Brown, £75. Every pair of worker boots I tried on over the winter were either horribly painful (hello blisters!) or made me look like a clown. These, however, look quite promising; the chocolate colour is divine and they don't seem overly uncomfortable. Fingers crossed!

Antique Rose Pastel Scarf, £12. Perfect for the brisk spring mornings.

One Of A Kind Vintage Sequin Top, £65. Sadly, this has now sold out online, but I really loved the pink and purple colour combination.

Vintage Leaf Pearl Belt in Nude, £16. So cute, again a way to work a little bit of neutral into your wardrobe.

Lace Up Suede Ankle Boot in Black, £55. Perfect for the transition into autumn, these ankle boots are simple and versatile, a wardrobe staple in the making.

At the moment, they are also having an absolutely killer mid season sale, with many items retailing for less than half the original ticket price. Also, if you buy any three sale items and enter the promotional code 'SALE3' at the checkout, your items will be delivered for free! So far, I've picked up these:

Rose Stem Necklace in White, was £14, now £9

Bonjour Mademoiselle Tee, was £28, now £9.99

Pastal Feather Appliques in Pink and Mint, were £16, now £10 each

By Johann Safari Shorts, were £38, now £17.99, will be perfect for my holiday!

And I recently bought this lovely mirror for my bedroom, which has sadly now sold out online:

Thoughts? Do you love Urban Outfitters as much as I do?

27.03.2010- TOPSHOP vs Prada

These gorgeous palm tree print pieces from Topshop really remind me of Prada's Spring/Summer 2010 collection...

Palm Print Drop Hem Vest, £32

Digital Palm Tree Print Skirt, £35

Digital Palm Tree Print Tee, £38

For comparison...

I picked up the vest version from Topshop this morning, it will be perfect for the summer (and is more within my price range than Prada!)

Thoughts?

03.02.2010- Ray of Sunshine.

Trudging my way up Oxford Street in the freezing cold and rain yesterday afternoon, I was longing for a peek, however fleeting, of sunshine. Alas, the weather stayed miserable and is still just as gloomy today, but as I stopped outside Topshop, I was momentarily transported to the height of summer, thanks to their beautiful window display:

Each of the mannequins has hand painted faces, and are dressed in some of Topshop's prettiest pieces from the 'Meadow' collection. So lovely after such a snow filled, freezing winter to see a burst of colour on the high street.

13.01.2010- To Be Adored

To Be Adored (or tba) is a label which has been on my radar for a while now, since I first became aware of their clothing after seeing it in Urban Outfitters last year. Their autumn winter collection fused school-girl chic which sophisticated scallop hem detailing and evoked a strong 60's feel, particularly in their swing coats and cardigans with contrasting buttons. Both on the red carpet and in fashion editorials last season, tba established a strong following...

Although I was sorely tempted to purchase the navy blue dress as worn by Ophelia Lovibond above, my indecision (and the fact that the dress sold out pretty much as soon as it was included in Urban Outfitters' Boutique sale) sadly meant that my wardrobe was minus a tba frock. However, having now seen the Spring/Summer collection, I am once again lusting after their beautiful pieces. Inspired by Mia Farrow and her onscreen performances (specifically in Rosemary's Baby and The Great Gatsby), the collection fuses together two of the season's key trends: nudes and metallics and feels effortlessly modern but simultaneously timeless. Here are some of my favourite pieces:

I love the combination of the romantic colour palette with the military buttons to give the shirt dress a harder edge, and the maxi dress would be perfect to wear on holiday. I may just have to treat myself this time!

05.01.2010- Black and white with a flash of green...Prada looks ten years younger

A preview of Prada's Spring/Summer ad campaign featuring Rasa Zukauskaite, photographed by Steven Meisel....

Prada's Spring/Summer 2010 runway show was the best Miuccia has presented in a long while, with sleek, subtle lines and sumptuous tropical prints that just will you to go on holiday. Far more youthful (as epitomised by styling the models with their hair swept into bunches), the latest collection showcases a far more practical and effervescent side to Prada than we have become used to. Miuccia Prada's pieces, although not always instantly awe-inspiring on the catwalk like the work of McQueen or Galliano, are consistently, season after season, worn on the red carpet; for me this is the domain in which the clothes truly come to life. I can't wait to see how well the label's latest creations translate to this arena, and who will be amongst the first to wear Miuccia's latest designs (although my money's definitely on Prada devotee and current toast of Hollywood Carey Mulligan).

23.09.2009- Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2010 RTW

Last night at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, classic British label Burberry made a triumphant return to London Fashion Week, in celebration of the event's 25th birthday. The show attracted the most high profile guest list seen at any London Fashion Week event in recent memory, with international fashion editors, Hollywood stars and politicians (who on earth invited Peter Mandelson?) descending on the capital for an evening spent in the company of Burberry's creative director Christopher Bailey and his latest stunning creations for the fashion house.

The front row of the show glittered as much as the shimmering silver coat Bailey sent down the runway:

Face of Burberry's Autumn Winter 2009 advertising campaign, Emma Watson, wearing (of course), Burberry.

Victoria Beckham, wearing a beautiful dress from her own collection.

The lovely Freida Pinto, wearing a dress from Burberry's Spring 2010 collection.

Mary Kate Olsen, looking effortlessly cool as always; I just adore the beetle brooch adorning her classic black winter coat.

One of my all time favourites, Liv Tyler, proving (if you didn't know by now) that a good boyfriend blazer is a girl's best friend and a must have piece for any wardrobe.

Anna Wintour, wearing Oscar de la Renta, complete with her trademark sunglasses and immaculately maintained hairstyle.

I can't wait to see this collection up close when it will arrive in stores next season, I have already made a pact that I will treat myself to a classic Burberry trench before I die/ when I can realistically afford it without bankrupting myself, whichever comes first!

I'm a bit of a floral junkie, so this ultra feminine, colourful and intricate collection is my idea of heaven.
