04.05.2011- 'Ill MET by moonlight...'

One of the red carpet events I look forward to year after year is the MET Ball; in fashion terms it's almost as show stopping as the Oscars. This year, however, I couldn't help but feel a little bit let down by most of the gowns on display, especially after being so overwhelmed last week by the sheer simple beauty of the dresses designed by Sarah Burton for Catherine Middleton. In contrast to the simple elegance we saw last week, I was a quite disappointed by the sheer chaos of the red carpet and I was disappointed not to see more McQueen pieces on show, given that the ball was held in a celebration of the opening of the Savage Beauty exhibition. However, in amongst the excess and somewhat bizarre choices, I've picked out a few attendees who I think got the mood of the event just right:

I loved Diane Kruger's Jason Wu dress, and her vintage inspired hair and make-up.

Chanel Iman looked beautiful in Dolce and Gabbana with understated accessories.

Dakota Fanning in flower festooned Valentino.

Hailee Steinfeld in Stella McCartney, probably my favourite of the night.

Michelle Williams looking radiant in Miu Miu.

What did you think of the looks from the MET ball? Were you as disappointed as I was? And who were your favourites on the red carpet?

04.05.2010- MET Ball 2010

Here are my picks of last night's Costume Institute Gala Red Carpet:

Alexa Chung in Phillip Lim. I adore this look on Alexa, the bow detail really reminds me of a scene from Coco Before Chanel (if you've seen the film you probably know what I'm talking about.) Hair and makeup are styled to perfection, she looks effortlessly chic and really at ease here. Love!

Diane Kruger in Calvin Klein, clean, sophisticated and elegant, I really love her makeup here as well.

Chanel Iman in Michael Kors. I love the fact that Chanel chose to wear a jumpsuit rather than a gown, she looks radiant.

Anne Hathaway in Valentino, looking every inch the fairy tale princess.

Nicole Richie in Marc Jacobs, perfectly co-ordinated.

Kate Bosworth in Valentino, love the Jean Harlow-esque hairstyle, and the beaded detailing on the gown.

Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte for GAP; I am utterly in love with this dress.

Who stood out for you? Any I've missed? And who disappointed you?

26.02.2010- Through the looking glass...

Just saw these lovely images of Lula's Spring 2010 covers, featuring Chanel Iman, Kim Noorda, Giedre Dukauskaite, Kate Somers, Charlotte Di Calypso, Addison Gill and Liu Wen, styled by Leith Clark and photographed by Damon Heath. According to fashiongonerogue, the outifts are very Strawberry Shortcake, but to me they feel more inkeeping with the aesthetic of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland; bright sweet shop colours with a fantastical feel. What do you think?
