29.10.2011- Weekend Wishes

This weekend, I wish my Halloween could be as stylish as this Tim Burton inspired shoot from Harper's Bazaar:

As it is, I'm just going to do my best zombie impression (and use the occasion as an excuse to re-watch Shaun of the Dead!)

How will you be spending Halloween?

09.09.2011- Weekend Wishes

This weekend, I wish I could carry off the 60s look as well as a certain Miss Chung does in the latest issue of UK Harper's Bazaar ...

Monochrome magic. What do you think of Alexa's shoot for Harper's Bazaar? And what are your wishes for this weekend?

04.11.2010- I know a girl with a golden touch...

Apologies for the two magazine posts in a row, but I really wanted to share this beautiful editorial from December's issue of UK Harper's Bazaar, which features the gorgeous Natalia Vodianova as photographed by Michelangelo di Battista:

I really love the art direction here, particularly how the really intricately detailed clothes are juxtaposed with the industrial backdrop. Also, how stunning does the McQueen dress look in the final image? Having said that, I think my favourite photo is the one with Natalia modelling the armour, I just love the romantic spirit it encapsulates.

What do you think of Natalia for Harper's Bazaar?

19.09.2010- Red Hot

As if you needed any further proof, following the parade of copper-headed models at Mulberry's SS10 show, that red was the hottest hair colour around at the moment, along comes the gorgeous Karen Elson for the October issue of UK Harper's Bazaar:

I'm seriously envying Karen's mane in these pictures, shot by Alexi Lumbomirski. As well as maintaining her to-die-for locks, Karen, with the help of her husband Jack White, has been writing and recording her debut album The Ghost Who Walks which was released earlier this year. I really like what I've heard of her music so far, but I'll let you judge for yourselves:

I really like the old country style, and am already (badly) humming the tune to myself around the house!

What do you think of Karen's music? And will you be embracing the red-head trend any time soon?

05.08.2010- The New New Look

I just came across this lovely shoot from the September issue of UK Harper's Bazaar, featuring Natalia Chabanenko photographed by Serge Leblon and styled by Mattias Karlsson:

I love how Karlsson has showcased the 50's inspired pieces from the Fall collections without making them feel to austere. The bright accessorising and use of different locations also help to keep the shoot vibrant and youthful, showcasing classically influenced shapes in a way which feels fresh and modern.

What do you think?

04.08.2010- 'Don't rain on my parade!'

The September issue of US Harper's Bazaar features cover star Jennifer Aniston in a starring role as Barbra Streisand, in a shoot which sees her recreate some of Streisand's most stylish looks from the Funny Girl era.

Seeing Jennifer styled like this, I think that she bears quite an uncanny resemblance to Barbra, and I love the way the shoot has been given a retro feeling through the way the clothes have been styled and thanks to the 60's inspired hair and makeup. It's also nice to see Jennifer given a more kooky look, in contrast to her usually neutral red carpet uniform. I don't know whether Jen can sing, but if the producers of the rumoured Funny Girl Broadway revival see this shoot, I'd say she's got a fighting chance of bagging the lead role. After all, how fabulous would it be to see Jen belt out this showstopper?

19.07.2010- Buenos Dias!

I got back from my holiday yesterday, after a really relaxing break. I've still got a mountain of unpacking to do, but couldn't resist posting this editorial from US Harper's Bazaar, featuring Jessica Stam. Shot by Alexi Lubomirski, the shoot is entitled Spanish Revival and, looking through it, I quite want to go back to the Spanish sunshine myself!

I really love the vibrancy of this shoot; you can just feel the sunshine seeping through the pictures. I hope to get some of my holiday photos up here soon, just as soon as I get my case unpacked!
