16.09.2011- Weekend Wishes

Hello! Firstly, I am so so sorry for not posting at all over the last week, my hard drive completely gave up the ghost and my computer has only returned from the menders today! Needless to say I have a lot to catch up on! Anyway, forgetting about that for a moment and celebrating the weekend; I wish I could spend mine chanelling the timeless style of Marilyn Monroe as well as Michelle Williams does in the October issue of US Vogue:

Doesn't she look stunning? I can't wait to see her performance in My Week With Marilyn when the film is released in November.

What are your plans for the weekend?

24.08.2011- Brighton Rock

If you've been shopping over the last few weeks, then you can't fail to have noticed the arrival of a slew of 1960s style designs on the high street. And if you've been inspired by what you've seen of the mods and rockers vibe so far, then you'll love this shoot from the September issue of US Vogue:

Natalia Vodianova and Sam Riley by Mert & Marcus, US Vogue September 2011, styled by Grace Coddington.
I love the sharp tailoring, bright colours and graphic prints, and Natalia rocks a beehive and smoky eye like no-one else can. Plus it's great to see Sam Riley (who was so good in Control) hitting the big time in America, as the adaptation of Brighton Rock in which he stars is released over there. Definitely a must-watch if you need a further dose of 60s inspiration.

What do you think of this shoot? And have you been inspired by any 60s fashion you've seen on the high street so far?

14.06.2011- Put a spell on you...

Now that July is just around the corner (where has the year gone??!), one thing I'm really looking forward to is the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two. I was a little bit disappointed by the last film and thought the story built really slowly to quite an anticlimactic ending, but I put that down to the fact that I'm quite an impatient person in general! To celebrate the series drawing to an end, the July issue of US Vogue features Emma Watson, looking far more fashion forward than Hermione ever has, in an editorial shot by Mario Testino:

I love the 20's feel of this shoot and the bold styling, particularly the hair and make-up. It will be interesting to see whether Emma recreates any of these looks on the publicity trail for the film next month- I'm sure she'll have her pick of designers after being named as ELLE's Style Icon back in February.

What do you think of Emma's looks for US Vogue? And are you looking forward to seeing the final Harry Potter film next month?

13.05.2011- Weekend Wishes

This weekend, I wish I could spend some time baking up a storm in the kitchen...

...although I doubt I'd look as stylish as Karen Elson whilst doing so!

What have you got planned for this weekend?

22.04.2011- (Easter) Weekend Wishes

I hope you're all enjoying the glorious weather which we're being blessed with at the moment! Although the pessimist in me is certain that this will be the extent of 'British Summertime', there is no doubting that it's lovely to see the sunshine. So, with this in mind, my wish for this weekend is to spend it in my garden, à la Karen Elson:

What have you got planned for this long weekend? I hope you all have a lovely Easter!

19.04.2011- Savage Beauty

If I lived in New York (a girl can dream, eh?) or was visiting over the next few months, I'd definitely make my way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the much anticipated retrospective of Alexander McQueen's work, entitled Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty runs from May 4th until the end of July. Curated by The Costume Institute, the exhibition features a range of McQueen's work, paying tribute to his unique vision and the unparalleled contribution which he made to the fashion industry. In celebration of the launch, the latest issue of US Vogue showcases some of McQueen's most iconic designs in spread aptly named Alexander the Great. Styled by Grace Coddington and photographed by Steven Meisel, the feature sees some of McQueen's most beautiful and extravagant creations modelled by the likes of Karen Elson and Coco Rocha:

The stunning lace gown and antlers as modelled by Karen Elson in the first photo from McQueen's Fall 2006 presentation remains one of my favourite pieces ever; I adored it when I first saw it and still love it as much (if not more) today. I suppose it's this aspect of McQueen's vision, that his work feels as if it has been drawn from a long-forgotten history whilst still being groundbreaking, which makes him a perfect subject for an exhibition like this. Fingers crossed it comes to London!

What do you think of the Alexander McQueen exhibition? And do you like US Vogue's take on his work?

15.11.2010- A Stylish Man

Here's the perfect thing to cheer up a miserable Monday evening- an exclusive first look at Tom Ford's long awaited Spring 2011 ready to wear collection, as featured in the December issue of US Vogue.

Shot by Steven Meisel and featuring a stellar cast of models including Karen Elson, Joan Smalls and Stella Tennant, this first peek at the collection showcases a strong seventies influence, and features some of the exquisite tailoring which Ford's name has become synonymous with. I can't wait to see more.

What do you think of this look at Tom Ford's Spring 2011 collection? Are you impressed?

18.10.2010- Anne does Audrey

Before I toddle off to bed like the old lady in waiting I am, I just had to share with you these images of Anne Hathaway's editorial for the November Issue of US Vogue. Shot by Mario Testino and styled by Tonne Goodman, I think that Happily Ever After sees Anne channelling rather more than a touch of classic Audrey Hepburn...

The second to last shot especially has a very strong flavour of Breakfast At Tiffany's about it, don't you think? Regardless, I think she looks absolutely beautiful here; Mr. Testino certainly knows how to get the best out of his subjects. And I can't wait to see Anne in Love and Other Drugs at the end of the year (although I suspect the fact that the film co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal has something to do with this!)

What do you think of Anne's Vogue spread?

09.09.2010- Carey Mulligan for US Vogue

Carey Mulligan is the cover star of US Vogue's October issue, shot by Peter Lindbergh and styled by Grace Coddington:

The simple styling here really lets the clothes speak for themselves, and Carey looks beautiful.

Last night London hosted Vogue's Fashion's Night Out, which I went to with a group of friends. It was such a great night, and I'm in the process of putting together a post all about it, which I'll hopefully have up pretty soon.

What do you think of Carey on the cover of Vogue?
