14.12.11- What I Wore Today #5

These posts have been a little bit neglected of late, but with it getting dark so early at the moment it's proving tricky to take any photos which don't make me look like a long lost relative of the Addams family- put it this way, flash is not my friend! Anyway, I managed to catch my outfit for today on camera first thing this morning, before I headed out to meet Sarah for lunch and a spot of last-minute Christmas shopping (apologies in advance for the bad quality pictures!)

 Jumper- Zara
Blouse (worn underneath)- Sister Jane at ASOS
Jeans- Topshop

I got this jumper from Zara and blouse by Sister Jane as birthday presents- you might remember I featured them in a Monday Must-haves post a few weeks ago. I was a bit cautious about the jumper at first, but after much deliberation (and advice on washing it from Mumma!) I popped it on my birthday list. I'm so glad I did as it's lovely and really comfortable. I'm also really happy I got this blouse from ASOS (purchased using one of their 20% off codes) as it's proving to be quite a versatile addition to my wardrobe- I can't wait to wear it in the warmer weather!

How are you finding dressing for the cold?

06.11.2011- Forever 21

On Wednesday, Sarah and I were invited along to a preview of Forever 21's SS12 collections. The venue, 24 Kingly Street, was transformed into a series of themed booths for the evening, beautifully showcasing each collection, and making us both very eager for the return of the warmer weather:

The beautiful, brightly coloured Riviera inspired collection made me want to reach for my suitcase- nautical touches, sharp tailoring and colour blocking showcased a sophisticated take on summertime chic.

There was an amazing array of jewellery on display, and I adored everything. The amazing Shine team also created this origami swan from scratch to display all the pretty accessories on offer for next season!

The final booth we visited was home to my favourite collection of the evening-60s Doll. Beautiful lace details, peter-pan collars, pastel shades and patterns encapsulated an airy, whimsical feel- and I added almost every piece to my must buy list for next year.

There was just time for a sneaky outfit snap on the way home (against the glamorous backdrop of Victoria station!)

Coat- Topshop
Jeans- Topshop
Loafers- River Island

Overall, it was a lovely event, and great to see what Forever 21 have up their sleeves for next season. I wasn't overly familiar with the brand before, but was really impressed with what I saw, and can't wait to snap up some of the SS12 pieces when they hit stores in February.

What do you think of Forever 21? Do you like the look of their new collections?

26.10.2011- What I Wore Today #4

The events of today only served to confirm something I've thought for a long time- dressing for the Great British weather is one of the most impossible tasks known to man. Rain, wind, snow, hail- we have to contend with it all (usually in the space of a single day!), which can make choosing what to wear a mission in itself...

Dress- Topshop
Tights- River Island
Watch- Urban Outfitters

I'd been meaning to order this dress from Topshop when I first saw it online weeks ago, but when I eventually got around to adding it to my shopping basket, it had sold out. I'd completely given up on it until last week, when I found the one remaining dress in my size in the Oxford Circus flagship. You might call it luck, but to me that's fate- needless to say I snapped it up straightaway. Today I wore it for the first time, and within two minutes of leaving my house this morning, I was soaked (thank you, rain). Luckily, I dried out quite quickly and couldn't be happier with my new purchase. Now I just need to invest in a decent umbrella!

13.10.2011- What I Wore Today #3

This is slight cheat as this is the outfit I wore yesterday, but as I got in quite late I didn't get round to posting. Last night (after an excursion to the Topshop Outlet in Edgware and a rather scary jaunt to Brent Cross!) Sarah and I went along to Callooh Callay in Shoreditch where the lovely ladies from Focus PR were hosting an Eylure and Elegant Touch event. Plenty of cocktails (or in my case cranberry juices!) were supped as we perused the lovely selection of lashes, nails, and of course enjoyed a good old natter:

Dress- Topshop
Jacket- Zara
Shoes- Topshop
Bag- Urban Outfitters
Leggings- Topshop
Belt- Vintage

Typically, I didn't get that many photos (probably as I was too busy chatting!), but the evening was lovely and by far the best blogger's event I've been to. Everyone was so friendly, the venue was amazing and it was great to meet some lovely people including Vivianna, Laura, Corrie, Ysis and Lisa and Sami. I also left with a fabulous goodie bag, so keep your eyes peeled (no pun intended!) for a post showcasing the contents (and my first foray into false lashes!) soon. Thanks again to Focus for throwing such a fantastic event!

05.10.2011- What I Wore Today #2

Am I the only one finding it really hard to decide what to wear in this unpredictable weather? One minute the sun is shining and temperatures soaring, the next it's pouring with rain! For a day of window shopping (and buying a lot of new baking goodies after watching the final of The Great British Bake Off), I opted for a suitably weatherproof outfit:

Dress- tba
Mac- Oasis

I picked up this velvet dress by tba in the Urban Outfitters sale last year and it has become one of my favourite purchases. It's really versatile (I practically lived in it last Christmas!) and I love the cut-out collar. Worn with thick black tights and this Mac from Oasis, it's perfect for a changeable autumnal day.

What are your go-to pieces for the autumn? And did you watch the final of the Great British Bake Off?

28.09.2011- What I Wore Today #1

This, I believe, is my first ever 'outfit post'! I've posted a few times before about what I've worn to events or out and about, but I think this is the first post I've put together featuring an outfit I've purposefully tried to catch on camera. I can't promise it will become a regular feature in the style of 'outfit of the day', but on the odd occasion I find myself looking half decent (and capable of pulling a normal facial expression) then I'll try and blog about it. I've been thinking about featuring this sort of post for a while (more as a way to help me to wear things from my wardrobe which I've forgotten about!), but knowing me I'll probably end up changing my mind and not carrying on!

Top- New Look
Jeans- Topshop

I saw this top on the New Look website a few weeks ago, and caved in and ordered it when they had a free delivery promo. I love the pale pink colour, and the sequin collar detail makes it a perfect transitional piece. It's really versatile too, and looks as good with jeans as it does with a smarter pair of trousers or a skirt. I think it would look amazing in different colours too, so fingers crossed for similar styles hitting the shops in the next few weeks.

What do you think? And would you like to see more posts like this?
