Monday Must Have (17/10/11)

Hi lovelies, hope you're all well this rather Autumnal Monday morning - literally ALL the leaves I can see are now bright orange which does rather make me feel like we're 'properly' there now - yay!

Today I've got another gorgeous Monday 'must have' for you which I've styled up in a few different ways to prove just how much you all need to go buy it (go on - then I wont feel guilty ha-ha).

Let's have a look:

 Dorothy Perkins £25.00
Dotty P's you've come up trumps!
I absolutely adore the slightly whimsical, vintage feel of this dress. The colour is beautiful and although it'd obviously be classed as a 'neutral' shade - I think the polka dot detail, the nipped in waist and the sleeve embellishment combine to make it anything but dreary.

Here are a couple of ways I've styled it to show you that pretty dresses aren't just for Summer styling:

Outfit One
Firstly, let's forget the dress for a minute, how damn >cosy< does that jacket look? My goosebumps and I are craving it quite badly right now I can tell you. This outfit is very much about working a variety of Neutral shades together to create an interesting colour pallet. The boots and the jacket compliment each other perfectly with a slightly 'worn' feel whilst the gloves warm the outfit up with their richer shade. The bag adds a  lovely hint of colour to brighten up a dull day and the locket adds the perfect finishing touch. A little treasure on an Autumn morning.

Outfit Two
Outfit Two is a little bit more foxy. A little bit more dark Autumn night. The rich textures and bold accessories work together to create a luxurious after dark compilation. The cocktail rings and the beautiful studded bag (desperate for one just like this!) pile on the glamour. Add some asymmetric earrings into the mix and you have yourself the perfectly brewed winter style concoction with a twist. Cheers.

Outfit Three
It might just be me but I feel like outfit three makes you feel warmer just by looking at it. Those gorgeous fur lined boots teamed with that impossibly cosy looking fur gillet (H&M if you're interested) would keep you toasty as ... toast in the cold (gotta love my descriptive prowess) Piling on the accessories again and adding a warm toned clutch bag will warm the look of this outfit right up and hopefully keep the winter chill at bay. With the simple long sleeved black top underneath you'll be rocking the art of layering to perfection.

Outfit Four "The Blair"
Yes, I know I know - My other outfits don't have 'names' I'm being a very unfair stylist right now! But it would have just felt so very wrong not to name this after Miss Waldorf herself when I actually cannot look at this set without imagining her. -Breathes- this wasn't actually intentional I swear, I just wanted a more 'feminine' softer toned outfit to balance out the others. The bag was my starting point - absolutely adore the two tone colour and gorgeous chain. The shoes are probably one of the prettiest pairs I've seen this year and then as for the baby blue gloves - I just died! This is definitely not my personal 'style' but for any of you Preppy Upper-East-Side-Stylers - this ones for you! (Although I might have to 'borrow' the bag)

So there we are then honeys, hope you've enjoyed this weeks Monday Must Have!

That Seventies Style

Hello my lovelies, I hope you're all well on this deliciously sunny late summer day. I know it's Monday but at least if the suns shining then the idea of trecking out to work doesn't seem quiiite as bad, no?

To brighten your day yet further I've been on the hunt for Autumn/Winter style previews again and today I'm bringing you the High-Streets interpritation of one of this Autumns hottest (or coolest shall we say? Much more appropriate ha-ha) trends :

The Seventies.
A decade full of the beautiful juxtoposistion of hedonistic partying and laid back festival frequenting the Seventies is one of my absolute favourite for fashion inspiration.

Here's my top ten high-street picks for Retro Stylin'2011:
This beautiful blush toned blouse just screams seventies luxe to me. From the Studio 54 style sequins to the sexy sheer sleeves this is one seventies shirt that every lady needs in her wardrobe this Autumn. I would team with wet look leggings and killer metallic platforms for a look David Bowie would be begging to borrow!
Topshop £65.00
Now - It wouldn't be Seventies stylin' without a maxi dress or two and this beauty was impossible to leave out! With it's on trend colouring and funky pattern it perfectly fits into your Autumn/Winter must have spec. Wear over a sheer long sleeved blouse + belt tightly. Add a pair of platform boots and you'll look like the next Bianca Jagger.
Miss Selfridge £32.00

In the words of one of the modern day vintage champions Rachel Zoe 'I DIE!' 'It's Bananas' 'Shut the front door' ETC. This is seventies stylin in all it's faux fur REAL glam glory. Team over a simple long sleeve top, flared jeans and platforms and Zoe herself will be offering you a glam contract.
Topshop £70.00

The Seventies were definitely not a decade for the timid dresser. These pants are loud + proud of it. Tone them down by teaming them with a simple black or white tank + Brown platforms. Effortlessly chic but the cut can be tricky to pull off so try these babies on before you swipe the card.
Topshop £45.00

Next up we have these platforms that are so hot Elvis would probably bribe you for a loan of them. Super glam but comfy thanks to that oh-so-practical chunky heel these would look fab with any party frock or wide legged jeans.
New Look £24.99
Speaking of wide-legged jeans here is possibly the best bargain you'll get! Super flattering jeans in a mid-denim colour with a small flair to flatter any figure (all your pears need a pair -pardon the pun- of these in your life to balance out those beautiful hips of yours)team with anything from long line vests + faux fur to pussybow blouses and platforms. Tres chic and an absolute steal:
Peacocks £12.00
Then for underneath your new flares we have these faaabulous platform boots that again wouldn't look out of place on a certain Miss Zoe. Neutral enough to work with anything these could prove to be a real staple for your winter wardrobe. Plus with the platform on those who needs studio 54 - every streets a disco!
Missguided £27.99

Next up we have this super pretty printed frock with a gorgeous pussybow neckline. Perfect with black tights + brogues for a simple daytime look or killer platforms and wine coloured stockings for a night on the town.
Miss Selfridge £46.00
Next up we have another gorgeous pair of platforms. These ones are just gorgeous with their subtle suede material and large blocky heel - The seventies girls sure new how to party so take a hint from them and stock up on block heels for the christmas season! Equally fab for day or night these would look great teamed with the jeans featured above.
New Look £29.99

Lastly we have this beautiful printed blouse which fits right into my 'mustards and custard' colour scheme block a couple of posts back. Elegant yet really glam this'd look perfect tucked into a pair of jeans for an off-duty chic look or worn over some daring hotpants for a night on the razz.
River Island £35.00
So there we are then loves! A quick trip in the time machine back to the shimmering seventies! Hope you like the picks and check back later this week for more High-Street trend covering!

Happy Mondays!

Autumn Colour Blocks

Hey sweeties, I do hope you're all well and good today - finally mid-week which that meens the countdown to the weekend has begun! Today I'm recooperating from a nasty bout of acid-reflux that had me up all night (most attractively) feeling like I was going to throw up any second and pacing my room to wait for the pain to subside. Sigh. I do hope your Tuesday nights were a lot less painfl and more glam than mine that's for sure!

Anyway, nothing like a little fashion goodness to cheer a poorly blogger up and today I've been waving my creative wand on Polyvore and scouring the high-street sections for a look at what lovely colours will be coming our way this Colder season. (I don't know why I called it this as we never seem to get a warmer season for the temperatures to drop from ha-ha)

Anyway here are some block sets of what I discovered (For a closer look at any of the featured items just click the photo and it will take you to my polyvore set list page):

Mustards and Custards
If you haven't thrown up (god I am vomit obsessed today?!) at the rather delicious sounding title above, feast your eyes on this selection of gorgeous yellow + brown earthy toned goodies all from the Great British High-Street. These colours are the very embodiment of Autumn style and scenery and I'm personally a little obsessed with the mustard platforms and the central brown bow coat. Perfection.

Red Red Wine
Ahhh, now if this collection doesn't make you think of sipping a delicious bottleglass of red whilst curled up infront of a toasty fire I don't know what will. This particular shade of red has to be one of the most beautiful colours around and I certainly cannot wait to get my hands on a couple of the items from above - namely the sheer shirt and skinny red belt (perfect for belting a cute vintage tea-dress)

Back to Black
As a bit of a black obsessive (literally - half my wardrobe - no joke) I'm more than thrilled that 'grown up goth' is making a comeback this Autumn/Winter. With Luxurious fabrics and incredible detail the items from the above collection combine ridiculously easy style (what can be simpler than black for a go-to all flattering look?) with a beautiful edge that meens I cannot wait to further develop my black-catalogue (ha-ha couldn't resist sorry)

So there we are my loves, a quick peek (again) at what we can expect on the good ole high-street this Autumn. What are you excited to shop for? Is there anything special that's caught your eye lately?

Baby it's cold out here (In August)

Hiya honey's I hope you're all well and good. Obviously I jinxed myself mentioning the sunshine yesterday because today I woke up to clouds that would look more at home in November than August -le sigh-

However, this has allowed me to indugle my absolute LOVE affair (seriously this could be made into some old fashioned romantic film I'm that obsessed) with Autumn clothing. I don't know just what it is about Autumn clothing that grabs my heart so much but I can guarantee to you that by about ... July I'm already eagerly awaiting the first cold snap of the year which ='s justifcation of an Autumn/ Winter Raid.

Today I have for you the most gorgeous selection of high-street winter jackets to keep you cosy this fall :

Firstly, all I really have to say to explain this choice is 'Look at the colour' so yeah, look at the colour! Has there ever been a more gorgeous, warming shade of red? I don't think so. Dreaming of teaming this with flat patent black knee boots and a cream chunky knit scarf for a crisp Autumn walk. Heaven.
Miss Selfridge £65.00

We then have this gorgeous utilatarian Parker style jacket. The faded style is right up my grungey street and I absolutely adore this - I imagine it casually slung over a little black dress, tights and layered knee high socks with some winter boots.

This gorgeous rusty coloured number is a slightly smarter choice. Perfect for layering over an elegant knit jumper dress or for teaming with skinny jeans and knee high boots for high-fashion fall style.
Dorothy Perkins £40.00
After yesterdays feminine flirtation this tough chic beauty brought me right back to my rock n roll roots. Would you just look at that amazing buckle that's going to pull you right in? And let's not even mention the perfect fur edging on the collar for when those cold nights draw in. Dreamy.

Lastly we have this adorably kitsch style blazer which I absolutely adore. Team with skinny jeans and ankle boots for a real indie influenced outfit or go vintage princess and layer it over your favourite thrifted frock. Either way it's completely gorgeous and a steal at only

So there we go my loves, a quick fling with the Autumn/Winter high-street to keep you cosy on this dreary day!

Also, if  you're stuck on how to accessorise your latest purchases I've been checking out this fab site quite a bit recently
http://clothing-and-accessories.become.co.uk/ for ideas of what would work with what.

01.10.2010- Last Days of Summer

This gorgeous spread from the October issue of Vogue UK perfectly captures the atmosphere of the last days of summer as it showcases the perfect autumn outerwear. Anna Jagodzinska is shot by Laura Sciacovelli against the picture-postcard backdrop of the English countryside:

I love the retro styling at play here, and the soft focus of the images gives the shoot a really warm feel, which, after a steady few days of non-stop rain and grey skies, is very welcome! I might just have to dig out all of my brightly coloured clothes in an effort to dispel the early onset of the winter blues!

What do you think of this shoot? Has it given you any inspiration for your autumn wardrobe?

Saturday Styling

So today seems like one of those lovely autumn days when it's almost warm enough to forget about winter for a bit. In honour of this treat today I'm posting one of my favourite late summer looks:

My shorts are from TK- Maxx and I've had them for about four years ha-ha £5. The shirt is stolen from my little sister (shh :p) I think it's New Look and the waistcoat again I've had for about four years it's New Look kids selection. Then the gorgeous boots were kindly donated to me by my friend Sharon (thank you) :) Bracelet from Espania and necklace from the boyfriend <3

I miss it being warm enough to wear outfits like this already~ although I am planning to wear this in the coming months just teemed with opaque tights and a warm jacket :)
Have a good Saturday!

Comfort Clothing

So I'm feeling ridiculously ill at the moment and all I'm craving is warm comfy clothes to curl up and mope in.  I've searched all afternoon (between feeling sorry for myself and napping) for the most appealing items around and here they are:
I love the colour and oversize style of this one definitely on my wish list for cold winter nights
I love this one too it reminds me of Kurt Cobain's stripy jumpers

And this ones just hot
